This trade flows only one way; it's still illegal for Americans to buy Cuban goods. But for years, American farmers have been selling millions of dollars’ worth of wheat, meat, corn and other agricultural commodities to Cuba under a special series of humanitarian exemptions. China has a strict communist government, and yet the US has no problem trading with China. On the other hand, Cuba, also communist, has been under trade embargoes for decades that have only lessened in recent years. China, on the other hand, is a huge market for US companies, and the US benefits enormously from a good diplomatic relationship with the country.
